Productivity Tips to Improve Your Life
1. Start by creating a to-do list.
This is the best way to organize your thoughts and make sure that you don’t forget anything important. When you know what needs to be done, it’s easier to focus on the task at hand. Get a planner, or if you are a sticky note queen like I am use that. Just make sure you are getting the to-do list out of your head that way you could use your brain more productively.
2. Break up big tasks into smaller chunks.
This will help reduce stress and make it feel more manageable.
3. Set deadlines for yourself and stick to them!
Procrastination can lead to a lot of wasted time and stress.
4. Delegate tasks whenever possible.
If there are things that someone else can do better than you, let them!

5. Learn to work and read faster.
If you could set aside some time to work on a task and need to get something read on the computer try downloading Speechify for Chrome. It is an extension that allows documents to be read to you and what’s cool about this is that you can adjust the speeds on how you want the document to be read to you either at a slower pace or at a faster pace.
6. Don’t multi-task!
It might seem like you can get more done when doing two things at once, but this is usually not the case. When your brain has to switch between tasks that have different requirements and goals it can cause stress and make you feel overwhelmed. Stick to one task until it is complete before moving on to something else.
7. Be realistic about how much time each task will actually require.
Rather than simply guessing based on what seems possible at first glance be realistic with yourself. Plan ahead by scheduling in breaks so there are fewer disruptions throughout your day. If you think back through past experiences with similar tasks then estimate accordingly.
8. Eliminate distractions.
This can be anything from notifications on your phone or laptop to people talking near you when you’re trying to focus. If it’s possible, work in a quiet environment where you won’t be disturbed.
9. Set boundaries for yourself and stick to them!
For example, if you know that you can only work for two hours before taking a break then make sure to take that break at the appointed time.
10. Take care of yourself mentally and physically.
By getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, exercising regularly, drinking enough water, and taking vitamins. All of these things will help improve your productivity levels as well!

11. Think positively.
Believe in yourself and your abilities- this will help motivate you throughout the day. Listen to motivational speeches, podcasts anything to lift your mood. Having a strong mindset can literally boost not only your mood but improve your productivity.
12. Stay organized.
This will help reduce stress and make it easier to find things when you need them.
13. Set goals for yourself.
Work towards them steps by step. Having something to look forward to can really help improve your productivity!
14. Use a timer when needed.
When working on tasks that have a specific time requirement (like writing an essay). This helps avoid wasting time by making sure that you stay focused on the task at hand.
15. Quit perfectionism.
It’s impossible to do everything perfectly, so don’t waste your time trying. Accept that mistakes are going to happen and move on from there.
16. Remove negative people from your life.
They only bring negativity and stress with them, which is counterproductive in achieving productivity. I understand sometimes it’s hard to remove people completely out of our life, sometimes we just simply can’t. But, what you can do is maybe try to limit interactions with them, keep every interaction short and brief.
17. Reward yourself for getting things done.
When you get things done when you say you’re going to get it done, reward yourself. Buy yourself something nice, take yourself out on a date, you don’t have to spend tons of money. However, just make sure you reward yourself with something that will motivate you to get the task done on time and in its entirety.

18. Put things in perspective.
Your life is not nearly as bad as it seems when you’re being overwhelmed by stress, so try to take a step back and look at the big picture and what actually NEEDS to get done when. But remember don’t beat yourself up too much over things that can wait.
19. Take breaks often!
If you get too focused on one task for an extended period of time your mind will become exhausted and less productive overall. When this happens, stop what you’re doing and do something else that requires little or no concentration (like listening to music). This can help bring mental clarity again while also providing some much-needed rest before getting back into work mode again later on!
You can also do the Pomodoro Technique more on this technique here.
20. Remember: Don’t be afraid to ask others for help if they have more experience than you with anything relevant.
This kind of goes hand in hand with #4, if you feel like you need a breather don’t be afraid to ask for help. Or if you feel like for example, you are working on a project at home, and you have a deadline. Ask your partner to go pick up dinner. Don’t ever overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much. We are all human, aka we are only 1 person, it’s impossible for us to do everything.
21. Have an accountability partner if you need it.
Find someone in your life that holds you accountable for what you say you’re going to do. If your goal is to go to the gym 4 times a week, for example, let someone know to check in on you once a day or once a week to see if you actually followed through with what you said you were going to do.
If you really want to go to the extreme, you could even pay the accountability person a certain amount of money let’s say $5 if you don’t follow through with going to the gym 4 times a week. That will entice you to stick to your goals a little more.
These are just a few of the ways that you can improve your productivity and make your life happier and healthier! Try implementing some of these tips into your routine and see how they work for you. Productivity is not a one size fits all solution, so find what works best for you and stick to it! Good luck!

Great tips! Thank you for sharing! I need to work on delegating tasks I don’t need to do myself
These are great tips! I think my favorite has to be quitting perfection, but searching for perfection is the #1 way to not be productive, in my opinion.

These are great tips! I especially like that you encourage us to listen to our bodies and minds to gauge how we are feeling. A burnout person is not a productive person, so make sure that you are not pushing productivity into burnout stage. Thanks for the informative post!
I struggle with multi-tasking. I’m almost always working on multiple things at one time.
High-5’s to a fellow Post-It note Queen! ? Yes, yes, yes – lists are where it’s at – cut the energy-suckers out of your life, hit a Pomodoro timer and get the hell on with it.
I also think that multi-tasking is absolute nonsense – and although you say you need to let go of perfectionism – multi-tasking is a fast way to produce shitty work! So you may as well focus on that ONE task and get it done to the best of your ability. Then move on to the next… and the next.
Love it 🙂
